1- <br />' , 17 August 2005 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 98-0533 <br />' Page 2 of 6 <br />' 3 1 1 Advancement of Soil Borings <br /> Borings B-5 and B-6 were advanced to depths of 80 feet and 75 feet below surface grade (bsg), <br />' respectively, using 8-inch diameter hollow-stern augers The drill rig and three-man crew were <br /> supplied by West Hazmat Drilling Corp of Sacramento, California Auger returns generated by <br /> drilling were placed in DOT-approved 50-gallon drums and stored on site pending proper disposal <br /> 3 12 Collection and Analysis of Soil and Grab Ground Water Samples <br />' Discrete soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California-Modified S split-spoon o f s <br /> { <br /> sampler loaded with three pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The samples were collected i i r�� <br />' at five-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg using a 140-pound hammer to advance the sampler <br /> 18 inches The number of blows required to advance the sampler in 6-inch increments(blow counts) <br /> was recorded on the boring logs <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br /> capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring location, <br /> depth, time, date and sampler's initials and was stored in a chilled container under ice Soil <br /> encountered in the borings were visually classified by an AGE geologist in accordance with the <br /> I Unified Soil CIassification System (USCS) Additionally, soil samples were field screened for the <br /> presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter(OVM) Selected soil samples <br /> were transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical Laboratories,Inc (MAI),a State <br />' of California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, and were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as aviation gasoline(TPH-ag)in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 5030/8015M, <br /> • Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX)wi methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) <br /> in accordance with EPA Method 8020, <br /> • Fuel oxygenates tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether <br /> (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method <br /> 8260B, and <br /> • Ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2 dichloroethane (1,2 DCA) in accordance with EPA <br /> method 8260 <br /> Grab ground water samples were collected from both boring locations at between,7.0 and,75 feet bsg <br /> Samples from the grab ground water were collected into 40-m1 vials,properly labeled,placed in the <br /> . chilled container and transported along with the soil samples to MAI under chain-of-custody for <br /> analysis of the analytes listed above <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
