A [Section 2635(a)(2)(A)] <br /> (1) Cathodic protection provided for entire tank, piping and components (nuts, bolts, <br /> washers,etc.). <br /> (2) Field installed cathodic protection systems designed and certified as adequate by a <br /> corrosion specialist. <br /> (3) Impressed current systems to be inspected no less than every 60 days. <br /> D. Alternate construction for new underground storage tanks containing motor vehicles fuel[Section 26331. <br /> (1) Monitoring and response plan[Section 2634]. <br /> (2) Underground storage tank composed of.... <br /> (a) Fiberglass reinforced plastic. <br /> (b) Cathodically protected steel. <br /> (c) Steel clad with fiberglass reinforced plastic. <br /> (d) Other material that complies with section 2631 and 2632. <br /> (3) Floor of leak interception and detection system constructed on a firm base and sloped to <br /> a collection sump(use of membrane liners comply with section 2631 (d)(6) <br /> requirements.) <br /> (4) Access casings installed in the collection sump of the secondary containment system with <br /> backfill in the interstitial space. The access casing shall meet all of the following: <br /> Designed and installed to allow the liquid to flow into the casing. <br /> Sized to allow removal of collected liquid and able to withstand all anticipated applied <br /> stresses. <br /> Constructed of material that will not be structurally weakened. <br /> Screened along entire vertical zone of permeable material. <br /> Capable of preventing leakage of any hazardous substance from the casing. <br /> Extend to the ground surface and covered with a locked waterproof cap. <br /> Capable of meeting S.J.Co.EHD Well Standards. <br /> Leak interception and detection system shall prevent the leaked hazardous substance <br /> from entering ground water. <br /> 14. INTERSTITIAL SPACE MONITORING <br /> A. visual monitoring[Section 2632(c)(1)] <br /> (a) Exterior surface and floor beneath tank monitored by direct viewing <br /> (b) Daily visual inspections <br /> (c) Liquid level in tank to be recorded at time of inspection <br /> (d) If liquid observed around or beneath primary tank,owner will determine if an unauthorized release <br /> has occurred. <br /> B. Mechanical or electronic monitoring [Section 2632(c)(2)] <br /> (a) Continuous monitoring system connected to an audible and visual alarm system. <br /> 6 <br />
