' File No. 249947 20 May 1991 Page 2
1.3 Background
' This report summarizes the results of one phase of a multi-phased investigation
which has been conducted by ACG at the subject site. Our previous investigations
have been summarized in the following reports:
' A limited-scope preliminary site assessment, issued 1 November 1989 (File
No. 2499-44);
' An update to that site assessment, issued 20 February 1990 (File No.
2499-45); and
' The results of a geophysical survey of the site, issued 28 June 1990 (File
No. 2499-46);
' The intent of this investigation has been to evaluate the potential for hazardous
materials to exist on the subject site. To do so, it was necessary to determine how
' the property had been used in the past.
During our investigation, city records and aerial photographs of the site were
t reviewed. Persons familiar with site usage were consulted as well. From these
sources, our office determined that several structures had been built on the site in
the past fifty years. A summary of this building history is included as Appendix C
at the end of this report.
Among the many structures which have existed on the site were a school bus
garage, a bus maintenance building, and a car wash. Figure 2 shows the
' approximate locations of these structures, based on historical aerial photographs of
the site. All three structures have been demolished. Since hazardous materials may
have been handled at these three structures, the histories of the buildings were
' investigated further.
What follows is the information we were able to complile regarding each of the
' three structures.
' School Bus Garage and Maintenance Building. The Lodi City School District
constructed two buildings on the subject site in 1939. One building, located near
the center of the southern border of the site, was used as a bus garage. A second,
' smaller building, located approximately 80 feet north of the bus garage, was used to
repair and maintain the busses.
ANDERSON
CONSULTING
GROUP
a
