Mr. Jeff Gymer
Draft Post-Remediation Soil Gas Probe Destruction Workplan
Former Lodi MGP Site
December 17, 2015
Soil gas probes PRSG-1 through PRSG-8 will be destroyed by over-drilling the probe borehole
using a direct push drill rig with 4-inch diameter core barrel. The core barrel will be driven to the
total depth of the deepest probe. Each probe (Teflon tubing) will then be removed from the
borehole. The resulting borehole will be backfilled with neat cement to the ground surface using a
tremie pipe. The surface at each probe location will be finished to match the surrounding surface.
DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES
All subsurface drilling equipment will be decontaminated prior to initiating drilling at the Site,
between each soil gas probe location, and at the completion of the drilling activities.
Decontamination of drilling equipment will be completed using a steam cleaner or high pressure
wash.
INVESTIGATION DERIVED WASTES
Derived wastes generated from the activities outlined in this Workplan will include soil cuttings and
wash water from decontamination procedures. All waste materials, including probe materials
(Teflon tubing, stainless steel screens, valves, well boxes) will be containerized in drums at the Site.
Soil cuttings and decontamination water will be placed into separate drums. Soil gas probe materials
will be segregated and containerized to the extent possible. The drums will be sealed, appropriately
labeled, and stored on-site pending results of the analytical testing. Upon receipt of the analytical
laboratory reports, the waste materials will be profiled and transported to an appropriate waste
disposal facility.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) will be followed during the probe destruction activities.
The HASP provides information regarding anticipated Site health and safety issues and establishes
policies and procedures adequate to protect Site workers from potential Site hazards. The HASP
includes specific information about the hazards associated with probe destruction activities. This
information includes chemicals of concern, action levels, personal protective equipment, emergency
procedures, directions to the nearest hospital, and a list of emergency telephone numbers.
REPORTING
The soil gas probe destruction activities will be documented in a destruction letter report. In
addition, California Department of Water Resources well completion reports will be prepared and
submitted for each destroyed soil gas probe.
TERRA PACIFIC GROUP Page 3
