l
Michael Vivas, P.E.
July 11, 2002
7. Section 4.0, Air Monitoring. In the second paragraph of the plan it states, "If the PID
readings exceed 20 response factor units.......for implementation of corrective
measures."; please provide information on anticipated corrective measures that will
be implemented.
8. Section 5.0, Personal Protective Equipment. Clarify when field personnel will wear a
half-face respirator and when they will have to wear a full-face respirator.
9. Section 6.0, Exposure Monitoring. Include provisions for community exposure
monitoring.
10.Section 11.0, Emergency Procedures. Decontamination requirements for personnel
injured or exposed in the work zone should be described. Provide a site map with
evacuation routes, procedures and signals. Describe means of contacting
emergency services (local telephone, cellular phone, radio, etc.), and note the
location of such equipment. Ensure that the medical facility is capable of handling
injured workers who may be chemically contaminated.
Provide a clearer map and narrative describing the route to the nearest emergency
room. Personnel with current CPR/First Aid training need to be identified.
CONCLUSIONS
The submitted documents require additional information and/or clarification of the
issues identified above. Final revisions must be incorporated into the document in a
comprehensive format, which allows site workers to readily access information within
the documents. Should questions arise, please contact Mellan Songco at (916) 255-
3590.
PEER REVIEW BY: 9
Xiaomei Ma, M.S., CIH
Associate Industrial Hygienist
