STANDARD PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD SOURCES
S
' County, State and Federal environmental records were reviewed for sites which may have
impacted the subject property. The databases accessed did not indicate a problem or potential
' problem with the subject site.
The Rieger Family have owned the property since 1924. H. J. Grooms and his wife Dora
Grooms held prior ownership. The Chain of Title indicates no ownership of the property by a
commercial entity which may have impacted the property.
Past surrounding land use has been agricultural production and very low density residential.
Records at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's office indicate rice and pasture
are the predominate crops grown in this area.
There are two primary sources of information which document and define past land use, although
occasionally they are difficult to interpret. The first is the use of aerial photographs. Aerial
photographs of the subject area in the 1950's and 1960's located at the University of California at
Davis indicate no changes in the subject property, as best as could be determined. The second
type of information are United States Geological Survey (USGS)maps. The 1971 map
illustrates the referenced buildings and no others.
INFORMATION FROM SITE RECONNAISSANCE AND INTERVIEWS
The following information was obtained visually and/or through an interview with Mr. Ron
Rieger and Mr. Rick Jones: The subject property contains no underground storage tanks (USTs).
There are two above ground fuel tanks (ASTs) for gasoline and diesel. There is an on-site,
conventional septic system with a tank and leachfield area. Pesticides (insecticides/herbicides)
used in crop production are not stored on the subject property. When pesticides are used, an
independent applicator is responsible for storage, application and container disposal. There were
no containers noted on-site, other than five and 55 gallon oil drums. An on-site propane tank is
used for heating and cooking.
' The subject property was surveyed for evidence which may be indicative of surface and/or
subsurface contamination: There are no transformers on-site; therefore, there is no concern from
polychloride biphenyl (PCB) contamination. Nor was there any evidence of solid waste disposal,
other than several different types of discarded items. These items all appear to be non-
hazardous. The site was carefully inspected for environmental concerns originating from
discolored, disturbed or subsided soils, stressed vegetation(other than sprayed with herbicide),
and unusual or noxious odors. The only environmental indicators of concern consists of a small
2
*ality Control I-Pei-
