WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS
CITY OF TRACY
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY -4-
B. Effluent Limitations:
1. The discharge of an effluent in excess of the following limits is
prohibited:
Average Average 30-day Daily
Constituents Units Monthly Weekly Median Maximum
BOD,' mg/l 20 40 -- 50
Total Suspended mg/l 20 40 -- 50
Matter
Settleable Matter ml/l 0. 1 -- -- 0.2
Chlorine Residual mg/l -- -- -- 0.1
Oil and Grease mg/l 10 -- -- 15
Total Coliform MPN/100 ml 23 500
Organisms
5-day, 20°C biochemical oxygen demand.
2. The arithmetic mean BOD (5-day) and total suspended matter in
effluent samples collected in a period of 30 consecutive days
shall not exceed 15% of the arithmetic mean of the values for
influent samples collected at approximately the same times during
the same period (85% removal ) .
3. The discharge shall not have a pH less than 6.5 nor greater than
8.5.
4. The 30-day average daily dry weather discharge flow shall not
exceed 9.0 mgd.
5. The Discharger shall use the best practicable cost-effective
control technique currently available to limit mineralization to
no more than a reasonable increment. The Discharger shall comply
with this limitation by (1) submitting a mineralization plan for
approval and (2) implementing the approved plan.
6. The effluent shall not cause acute toxicity in 96-hour to test
fish in 96-hour continuous bioassays of undiluted waste. Tests
resulting in survival less than the following criteria will be
considered violations of this limitation:
Minimum for any one bioassay - - - - - - - - - 70%
Median for any three consecutive bioassays - - 90%
7. The maximum effluent temperature shall not exceed the natural
receiving water by more than 20°F.
