March 2, 1999 <br /> NOA ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT NUMBER E99042 <br /> VI. INTERVIEWS <br /> An interview was conducted with Mrs. Norma Norton, the owner of the subject property. Mrs. <br /> Norton indicated that she has owned the subject property since 1949. Mrs.Norton indicated that the <br /> subject property has never been developed and she has no intention of developing the property. Mrs. <br /> Norton stated that the property will remain in agricultural use for the foreseeable future. To the best <br /> of Mrs.Norton's knowledge,the subject property has been planted in grain crops for the past seven <br /> years,and was planted in rice and almonds and used as pasture land in the past. The subject property <br /> is flood irrigated using the San Joaquin County irrigation canal waters. Mrs.Norton indicated that <br /> she knows of no underground storage tanks,above ground storage tanks,buried materials,hazardous <br /> materials storage,generation or disposal,or hazardous materials spills on the subject property during <br /> her ownership. Mrs.Norton also indicated that there are no wells,septic tanks or leach fields on the <br /> subject property. <br /> An interview was conducted with Mr. Hector Centeno, the tenant farmer under a lease agreement <br /> with Mrs.Norton. Mr. Centeno indicated that he has been growing corn on the subject property for <br /> the past six years. Mr. Centeno has planted both corn and oats this year on the subject property. Mr. <br /> Centeno indicated that he applies Sevin to the subject property when there is an insect problem. Mr. <br /> Centeno also indicated that he does not mix or store agricultural chemicals on the subject property. <br /> VII. SITE VISIT/ASSESSMENT <br /> A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted prior to the compilation of this report. <br /> The subject property is approximately 38 acres in size and has been assigned Assessor's Parcel <br /> Number 229-170-83. The subject property is located on the northeast corner of Henry Road and <br /> Highway 120, and is a portion of the property with the address 30327 East Highway 120,Escalon, <br /> San Joaquin County, California. <br /> The subject property had recently been planted in corn and oats and the crop was beginning to grow. <br /> Therefore, we could not walk across the entire property, but were allowed to inspect the property <br /> from its perimeter. No industrial processes, commercial products, industrial drums, wastewater <br /> streams, pits, ponds, water wells, dry wells, trash or debris, hazardous materials, above-ground <br /> storage tanks, evidence of underground storage tanks, electrical transformers, stressed or dead <br /> vegetation were observed on the subject property at the time of the site reconnaissance. <br /> Adjoining property to the north is agricultural land,beyond which is a residence. Adjoining property <br /> to the east is agricultural land and a residence owned by Norma Norton. Adjoining property to the <br /> south is State Highway 120,beyond which is the VanVleet Dairy. Adjoining property to the west <br /> is Henry Road, beyond which is agricultural land. Past uses of adjoining properties include <br /> agricultural land, orchards and dairy farm. <br /> 9 22 <br />
