7.9.3.3. After tank entry and atmospheric check, verify that all vents and other areas where <br /> liquids or potentially dangerous vapors could enter the tank are sealed. <br /> 7.9.3.4. Verify that the customer has removed or capped the submersible pump. Plug <br /> supply lines if they are not plugged already. <br /> 7.9.3.5. Plug manifold vent lines by inserting expandable plugs or forcing the ball of a <br /> check-valve mechanism tightly against the fitting. <br /> 7.9.3.6. Enclose any suction and siphon lines in plastic or cap them to prevent fuel leaks or <br /> drips. <br /> 7.9.3.7. Immediately evacuate the tank if the attendant alerts you of a potentially <br /> dangerous condition. <br /> 7.9.3.8. On rare occasions, you may be required to remove fluid (product or water) from <br /> the interstitial space of a tank. Because the fluid may contain flammable vapors (gas), <br /> you must exercise extreme caution when performing this work. A procedure called <br /> "Removing Fluid from the Bottom of Ribs While Tank is in Ground" is located in the Field <br /> Service Technician's Manual. <br /> 7.10. Closing the Tank Entry Work Permit <br /> 7.10.1. Authorized Tank Entrant Responsibilities <br /> 7.10.1.1. Remove all pipes, plugs or caps. <br /> 7.10.1.2. Remove all tools and equipment. <br /> 7.10.1.3. Safely exit tank. <br /> 7.10.2. Site Supervisor Responsibilities <br /> 7.10.2.1. Complete parts B and C of the Tank Entry Work Permit. <br /> 7.10.2.2. Close the completed permit, return it to the plant, and retain it with the service <br /> alert file. <br /> 8.0.
