There is a huge pile ort which was excavated fr- _ the south side of VFW.
It was placed along the east boundary next to the oleanders. I saw their big
equipment apparently compacting it down. Since then I have seen their big trucks
parked on top of the pile. Again I ask you. What reason would they have to do this
unless it is to spy or to harass. It is an eyesore, just as is all the junk piled along the
north boundary. I am enclosing pictures of the end of this pile along with the junk.
The VFW had a "Grand Opening" in May. They have 29 parking spaces, but
their place was overflowing with cars & trucks, and they were parking alongside
Olive Ave. If they are allowed 29 parking spaces for safety reasons, then why are
they having these big "Whoop -de-dos". Not only that but they carried their
activities outdoors which I understood they were not supposed to do. They brought
in a big tank, filled it with water, & from the appearance of things and the noise it
generated had a fund raiser whereby a person hit a target and a person fell in the
water.
It seems to me from the crowds there at times this place is probably rented
out. What happened to policing it themselves as they claimed. Mrs. Spyksma
watched my property for me while I was in Denver, Colorado. When I returned
home on June 27, 2004, sbe informed me that there had been a "Mexican
Wedding" at VFW and they went in my orchard to take pictures. She has several
witnesses to this. They did not have permission to go in my orchard. She also
informed me that people threw clods, one hitting her. She said she called the sheriff
three times that day because of the disturbances. Also, where are their petitions to
rent this place out if this is what they're doing. Their claim was that this was to be
merely a meeting place for VFW and their pancake breakfasts. Their membership
must have really exploded, and I'm sure their "breakfasts" don't last well into the
night.
On July 4 I heard a loud bang at 9:00 & it came from the direction of VFW.
This really distresses me, because as I reported in one of your meetings, my mother
had a bullet go through her window & it was nver determined where it came from.
My biggest complaint however has been VFW's total disregard for my
farming operation, and their blocking me from carrying on my daily farming
operations with pallets, sawhorses, one time a car, and tape being strung across
the roadway. This is currently under litigation.
Twice I have been contacted by realtors wanting to list my property. Are the
VFW deliberately trying to degrade the property value around here. Apparently
others think so, because one neighbor next to the canal has already sold, and two
places on Olive Ave. are now for sale. Two of those neighbors told me months ago
they felt the property value would deteriorate if VFW were allowed to move in.
One of those neighbors happened to be a veteran himself. Just take a look at the
beautiful olive trees Mr. Moyer claimed the VFW treasured so much. They have
