31604.DSK
WP-SFO
2.4 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
A. The blower and associated controls shall be of a positive displacement or
centrifugal type. The motor and all controls shall be suitable for a
potentially explosive atmosphere due to the presence of explosive gases
(e.g., Class 1, Division 2 per NEC).
B. The air/water separator shall be made of steel or fiberglass with a minimum
condensate storage capacity of 100 gallons and shall include a demister.
The air/water separator shall have a high level switch that notifies the auto-
dialer if the air water separator is three-fourths full, and a high-high switch
that automatically shuts down the vapor extraction system if the separator is
90 percent full. The separator shall have an external sight glass that will
indicate liquid level from zone to full capacity. The separator unit shall be
mounted on an anchored stand with a bottom drain valve at least 3-112 feet
above the concrete slab (separator shall adequately drain to a standard
55-gallon drum).
I
C. The frame and all piping of the supplied system must be constructed of
carbon steel with a heat resistant protective paint coating (primer and finish
coat). The influent and effluent pipes shall have 2-inch flanges. Valves
shall be a ball type. All welds shall be ground smooth. The frame shall
include a hook/pad eye for loading and unloading the skid-mounted unit,
and anchor plates for bolting the frame to the slab.
D. The system shall be supplied with vacuum and pressure relief valves as
recommended by the blower manufacturer and an in-line influent filter as
recommended by the blower manufacturer.
E. Flow meters shall be provided at the locations shown on the Drawings.
Flow meters shall be of the rotameter type with a range of 10 to 100 cubic
feet per minute.
F. Vacuum gauge shall be provided at the locations shown on the Drawings.
Vacuum gauge shall be of the magnehelic type with a range of 10 to
150 inches of WG.
G. Pressure gauge shall be provided at the location shown on the Drawing.
Pressure gauge shall be magnehelic type with a range of 5 to 25 psi.
H. Power and Controls:
1. The System Supplier shall be responsible for all wiring and controls
internal to the vapor extraction system. The Contractor shall provide
power to the control panel.
2. All materials and workmanship shall meet the requirements of
Division 16.
3. The control panel can be hard wired or use programmable controlled
logic.
4. The control panel shall include:
a. HAND/OFF/AUTO switch for the vacuum blower.
b. ' ALARM indicator light for high water in the air/water separator.
BAE31604.AS.T1
13001 4 VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM
