Fremont St. , Stockton
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
reviewed the January 17 , 1995 Quarterly Status Report submitted by Wallace Kuhl and
Associates , Inc . for the above referenced site .
The report describes sampling which occurred on December 21 , 1994 . The report contains
results of laboratory analyses which were performed on the samples obtained from the six
monitoring wells on site and the one off site monitoring well SMW2 which is located up
gradient on the southern boundary of the site . The report tabulates all data to date. The report
draws no conclusions from the data nor does it propose a next scope of work based upon data
obtained to date.
From the data presented in this report it appears that the plume is defined laterally . The plume
seems to be contained within the boundaries of the site . The only area which may be in question
would be the comer of Van Buren and Fremont street which seems to be directly downgradient
of the former tank location. This should be considered as a possible monitoring well location.
To date there has been no remediation of the Crystal site . Extraction remediation at the Crystal
may affect the Chase Chevrolet plume to the east. Movement of the Chase plume twords the
Crystal plume will be detected in' Crystal MW-3 and Crystal MW-2 . The contamination detected
at the western boundary of the Chase site is several orders of magnitude greater than the levels
in wells MW-2 and MW-3 . (Chase well MW-7 has 13 , 000 ppb TPH-g) . There is no evidence
to indicate that commingling of the two plumes has occurred beneath Van Buren Street at this
time .
Since the investigation of the lateral extent of the Chase Chevrolet plume has not been completed
PHS/EHD will not direct Crystal to install any groundwater remediation technology at this time .
PHS/EHD will schedule a meeting with Crystal and Chase to discuss a coordinated groundwater
remediation effort for both sites .
A Dhision of San Joaquin Counq Health Care Services
