(AGE) . AGE proposes in the
WP to install one ground water extraction (GWE) well (EW- 1), one soil vapor extraction (SVE)
well (VW- 1), and one observation well (OBW- 1 ); and conduct pilot testing for GWE and SVE.
The proposed location of VW- 1 is adjacent to boring P3 , an area of significant soil hydrocarbon
contamination. However, MW- 1 appears to be more intensely impacted than P3 as shown by soil
samples containing total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) at 15 feet below
surface grade (bsg) at 990 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) versus 230 mg/kg TPH-g from P3 at
10 feet bsg. Based on this information, EHD recommends that VW- 1 be located closer to the
apparent source of contamination, between MW- 1 and P3 , or nearer to MW-1 .
The EHD is concerned with the proposed construction of OBW- L The proposed screen intervals
are 5 feet to 15 feet bsg for VW-1 , 15 feet to 35 feet bsg for EW- 1 , and 5 feet to 20 feet bsg for
OBW- 1 . The EHD recommends that two separate observation wells be installed having the same
construction and are located reasonably near the well being tested.
Submit a workplan addendum addressing these concerns and recommendations or a technical
justification for the test design submitted in the work plan to the EHD by November 1 , 2007.
If you have any questions, please contact Frank Girardi at (209) 953 -7868 .
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
E vironmental Health Department
Frank Girardi, Senior REHS Nuel C.
