! - Project workers must be provided with a warm (65"F or above) break area. <br /> - Hot liquids such as soups or warm, sweet drunks shall be provided in the break <br /> area The intake of coffee and tea should be limited, due to their circulatory <br /> and diuretic effects <br /> - The buddy system shall be practiced at all times on site Any site worker <br />' observed with severe shivering shall leave the work area immediately <br /> - Project workers should dress in layers, with thinner lighter clothing worn next <br /> to the body <br /> - Project workers should avoid overdressing when going into warm areas or <br /> when performing strenuous activities <br /> - Employees handling liquids with a high vapor pressure, such as gasoline, <br /> methanol, or hexane, shall take special precautions to avoid soaking of gloves <br /> and clothing with those materials <br /> 4.2.10 Fire Prevention <br /> Smoking or open flames are prohibited except in designated smoking areas Vehicles and <br /> equipment will not be left idling or parked in or around areas where catalytic converters may <br /> cause a fire Equipment and vehicles should stay on undisturbed paved areas where possible <br /> All flammable liquids qu ds will be stored in Underwriters Laboratory (UL) or Factory Mutual <br /> (FM) approved storage cabinets Small quantities of most flammable liquids (five gallons or <br /> less) may be stored in work areas, or carried in vellucles, providing those materials will be <br />! used that day and will be contained in a safety can or other approved container Class IA <br /> flammable liquids should be limited to two gallons in an approved safety can Any <br /> flammable wastes will be stored or disposed of in metal containers, clearly marked as <br /> containing flammable materials Storage of combustible materials, in work areas, will be kept <br /> to a minimum <br />! <br /> A fire extinguisher, rated not less than IOB, shall be provided within 50 feet of wherever <br /> more than 5 gallons of flammable or combustible liquids or 5 pounds of flammable gas are <br /> being used on the ,fob site (excluding the integral fuel tanks of motor vehicles) Portable fire <br /> extinguishers shall be inspected monthly and serviced at least annually by a person licensed <br /> or registered by the State Fire Marshal <br /> Within occupied trailers, only UL approved electrical extension cords may be used When <br /> outdoors, only double insulated or grounded electrical power tools may be used <br /> MZO1-29-94/RHS/HASPM-0037 JAF 4-16 <br />
