4. I managed the activities leading to the original
classification and partial cleanup of the Thompson-Hayward
Chemical plant "Superfund" site in Fresno County.
5 . I did the same as above for the FMC-Fresno
"Superfund" site.
In addition to managing and operating regulatory programs that
governed the above facilities, I physically led and/or
participated in the sampling and evaluation of numerous sites for
hazardous or water quality impacting levels of materials in
various locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley. These
investigations included: soil sampling for arsenical pesticides
in 1985; sampling in 1986, of all agricultural drainage disposal
systems (ponds) for hazardous metals , especially selenium;
sampling both water and soil and interpreting data from numerous
pesticide applicator sites , especially aerial applicators and
large distribution facilities (1978 - 1985) , and finally, I have
also had teaching experience in developing and implementing
environmental assessments , especially water quality assessments
(through Karl Longley, Fresno State School of Engineering) .
Since I left the Water Quality Control Board, I have been
continuously involved in environmental assessments for various
industrial firms , federal , regional and municipal government
agencies, as well as private individuals . I provide ground water
monitoring services for two major oil companies , have been
involved in a hazardous wastes cleanup at a small property
administered by a federal agency, and physically removed soil
samples at gas tank leak sites and pesticide contaminated areas .
I am familiar with all of the federal and State water and waste
laws , including hazardous waste laws and rules, and because of my
specialized knowledge on water quality and hazardous wastes , was
appointed as a member of the Tulare County Hazardous Wastes
Management Plan, Citizens Advisory Committee, by the Tulare
County Board of Supervisors (term completed) .
Recent Environmental Cases
1 . I have recently been involved in a waste profile
development and manifesting of some arsenic-laden barrels
from an abandoned site.
2 . I have developed and implemented a plan for the
cleanup for some Kelthane (pesticide) contaminated soils at
a rural property.
3 . I currently conduct ongoing surface and ground
water monitoring at oilfield wastewater disposal sites for
two major oil companies, including sampling for benzene to
determine compliance with Proposition 65 .
