If you are indoors, Practice "Duck, Cover and Hold". Stay there, do not attempt
to run outside. Get under a sturdy desk, table or stand in a corner or doorway.
Stay away from any windows.
If you are outside, get into an open area and stay away from buildings, walls,
power lines and trees. Do not attempt to run or walk while the shaking is going
on. The best position would be kneeling or sitting down.
If you are driving, stop the vehicle. Avoid any buildings and power lines. DO NOT
stop on any of our bridges. DO NOT attempt to leave your vehicle until the
shaking is over.
If the earthquake occurs during an Auction, attempt to remain calm. DO NOT
RUSH FOR THE EXITS. Crouch down and cover your head and neck with your
hands and arms.
After the shaking stops:
Expect aftershocks, the secondary waves are usually less violent, but never the
less can do additional damage to structures already weakened by the initial
shock wave.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM as they may have
been damaged by the initial earthquake. The system may also fail because of
overload. If an emergency call must be made, DO SO.
Evacuation of buildings can be done at this time. Stay away from damaged
structures, bridges and downed power lines.
A roll call of employees in your specific area should be attempted. The normal
radio communication system for ADESA Golden Gate can be used for
employees caught out on the lot. Observe proper radio etiquette. DO NOT step
on others transmissions.
When roll call is complete and all of your employees are accounted for, ALL
employees should assemble outside of the Cafeteria at Main Auction Building for
instructions.
NO employees will be allowed back into any building until the Evacuation
Coordinator, Facility Manager or Senior Fire Official gives the "ALL CLEAR".
Active Shooter/Robbery in Facility:
11
