The CBC noise generators are approximately 140-feet from the
east property line, 190-feet from the west property line,
and 445-feet from Navy Drive. Based on a 6 dBA reduction of
noise with each doubling of distance from the noise source,
the project will generate approximately 83 dBA at the east
property line and 81 dBA at the west property line. The
noise level at the Navy Drive property line will be within
the industrial noise limit of 75 dBA at the property line.
Given the fact that the project site is within an industrial
area, adjacent properties may not be adversely affected by
the excessive noise created by the CBC units . Should com-
plaints arise, it will be necessary to baffle or enclose the
equipment so as to reduce the noise levels at the property
lines to 75 dBA.
The most sensitive noise receptor in the area is the Trinity
Presbyterian Church located at the intersection of Navy
Drive and Pershing Avenue, approximately 2 , 500 feet from the
project site . This distance factor, along with other noise
generators in proximity to the church, will eliminate any
noise impact of the project on the church.
Mitigation Measures:
a. The project should comply with the noise standards
outlined in Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations
and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Noise Compliance Guidelines.
b. If warranted by noise complaints, noise attenuation
walls should be constructed along the east and west property
lines to reduce the on-site noise levels to 75 dBA at the
property line.
6 . Energy/Natural Resources
Use of Substantial Amounts of Energy
Setting:
The project at full operation (both CBC units) will require
approximately 180 Therms per hour of natural gas. This is
equivalent to the average natural gas usage of 820 single-
family residential dwellings during one year .
Analysis:
Although the project will consume a significant amount of
natural gas, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, as the serv-
ice provider, has indicated they have the ability to provide
service with existing gas transmission facilities in the
area.
Mitigation Measures:
None proposed.
24
