.800 ✓
06 November 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0184
Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site permits will be obtained from the City of Stockton - Public Works Department
(COSPWD)for utility connections and from the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control
District (SJVAPCD). In addition, an update to the health and safety plan presently on-file will be
prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous
Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S.
Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, all
underground trenching areas will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through
Underground Service Alert.
2.2. INSTALLATION OF INTERIM REMEDIATION SYSTEM PIPING NETWORK
A remediation system piping network will be installed underground in a 1-foot wide by a 1'/z-foot
deep trench; the proposed trenching location is depicted in Figure 2; a cross sectional view of the
trench is depicted in Figure 2. System piping network will consist of two-inch diameter. schedule
40 PVC pipingattached to the well-heads at V W-2A,VW-3X,V VW-5A,V W-5B and existing ground
_._._
water extraction well EW-I and routed through a manifold to the proposed soil vapor extraction unit
(i.e. catalytic oxidizer). Following piping placement, the trench will be backfilled with imported
road-base sand, compacted and resurfaced to grade with asphalt.
Additionally AGE proposes installation of 6-foot deep by 15-foot long,chain-link,gated enclosure
to secure the soil vapor extraction system. The enclosure will be located in a north section of the site
adjacent to the northwest corner of the parking lot. The proposed remediation system fencing
enclosure is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.3. PROPOSED INTERIM SOIL REMEDIATION SYSTEM
The proposed interim remediation SVE system (Solleco Ecat 250) will consist of a condensati
separator, vacuum blower, electrically heated catalytic oxidizer and control components.
installed underground piping from wells VW-2A, VW-3feVW-5A, VW-513 and EW-1 wil
connected to the inlet of the condensation separator. The condensation separator will be conn
to the vacuum blower; the outlet from the vacuum blower will be routed through a heat exch
and then a catalytic converter cell.Induced vacuum will be measured utilizing a Magnehelic v
gauge attached to the inlet of the blower. SVE air flow will be monitored using a Dwyer
Advanced GeoEaviror
i
