Sampling ports will be installed upstream of the vacuum blower inlet to recover SVE
influent air flow vapor stream samples, and downstream of the catalytic converter cell chamber to
recover effluent SVE air flow samples. Sampling_ports will also be 76sed to monitor the efficiency
of hydrocarbon destruction. A diagram of the SVE treatment and performance information is
depicted in Appendix B.
2.4. INTERIM REMEDIATION START-UP PERIOD '
During the first week of operation, SVE operational parameters including soil-vapor sample
concentrations, air-flow, vacuum and temperature will be monitored on a daily basis. Influent and 71
effluent air-flow vapor samples will be collected on a daily basis and be su mitted a State of
California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for analysis of the following
constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g) in accordance with EPA ZpU{?
Method 8015 Modified; and 4p% —
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl etherlJS
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
7 `sh0)4110111`
Collected operational parameters will be used to determine the optimal destruction rate of recovered
hydrocarbon vapors and analytical results will be used to monitor hydrocarbon destruction efficiency.
2.5. MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE
Following the SVE start-up period, SVE operational parameters will be monitored and preventive
maintenance will be performed according to manufacturers' recommendations on a weekly b sis.
During the first three months of operation air-flow vapor samples will be collected on a weekly
basis, subsequent air-flow vapor samples wi ecollect-ea-on a monthly basis to monitor cleanup
progress. Collected sam es will be submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory for analysis of the
following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015 Modified; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B. 1 g
1}7,a
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
