Trip or fall injury on rocks, gravel, or debris; <br /> B. Physical injury from sampling equipment; <br /> r y � <br /> i.. C. Physical injury from underground utilities; ' <br /> D. Heat stroke/exhaustion due to high temperatures;l! <br /> I E. Hearing damage due to loud equipment; and <br /> F. Chemical injury from contaminants potentially existing in soil and water. <br /> 4.0 GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> 4.1 Physical Injury/Accident Hazards(A and B) <br /> A. Employees must pay attention to rocks,ditches, loose, or wet soil that may cause them to <br /> i trip, slip, or fall. " <br /> B. Employees need to remain in an alert, well-rested state in order to evaluate conditions at <br /> the site that are unfamiliar to them. <br /> 4.2 Drilling Rig Hazards <br /> A. The cables from the drilling rig can break and fly4out causing injury. The hydraulic lines to <br /> i the auger can also break, causing a release of hydraulic fluid that could spray onto <br /> employees nearby. Loose clothing,hair or jewelry may be caught in the rotating augers. <br /> Employees must wear hard hats and eye protecti n when working near the drill riga <br /> 4.3 Underground Utilities <br /> A. Underground utilities will be Iocated prior to conducting subsurface work. <br /> B. Employees will take precautions so that drillers do not hit utilities.
