' source areas The scope of work is discussed in the Field Investigation Work Plan (Treadwell & <br /> ' Rollo, 2003b) and included the following tasks <br /> • Reviewing pertinent available documents and maps for the 541 Site and potential offsite <br /> ' source areas, <br /> • Reviewing available aerial photographs of the 541 Site and vicinity, <br /> ' • Drilling and logging 27 soil borings to depths ranging from 8 to 19 feet, <br /> ' • Collecting and analyzing select soil and groundwater grab samples, and <br /> • Preparing this technical report summarizing our findings <br /> The shallow soil sample data provided further information on possible onsite source areas and <br /> the groundwater grab data was used as a screening tool to delineate water quality across the 541 <br /> • Site and adjacent areas The quality of soil and groundwater was compared to Preliminary <br /> Remediation Goals (PRGs) and Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) as discussed in <br /> Section 6 1 <br /> 3.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br /> This section provides a brief description of the 541 Site history,previous investigation, potential <br /> ' offsite sources and the hydrogeologic setting Additional background information is available in <br /> the Site Assessment Report(Treadwell & Rollo, 2003a) <br /> 3.1 Site Description <br /> The 541 Site is located at 541 West Grant Line Road in Tracy, California (Figure 1) The 16- <br /> acre <br /> 6- <br /> acre property is an elongated strip of land approximately 125 feet wide by 595 feet long with <br /> ground surface elevations between approximately 19 to 25 feet mean sea level Currently, the <br /> southern portion of the 541 Site, near West Grant Line Road, is developed with a single story <br /> icommercial building and adjacent paved parking lot(Figure 2) The building was constructed in <br /> ' 2001-02 and is currently occupied by Sherwin Williams and other tenants The northern portion <br /> Field Investigation Report 2 8 December 2003 <br /> ' TREADWELL&ROLLO,INC <br />
