Work zones will be established in order to delineate hazardous locations and contain <br /> contamination within the smallest area possible Employees entering the work zone must wear <br /> ' the proper personal protective clothing and equipment for that area Work and support zones will <br /> be established based on ambient air monitoring data, physical hazards, necessary security <br /> ' measures, and site-specific conditions Work zones are identified as the Exclusion Zone (EZ), <br /> Decontamination Zone (DZ), and Support Zone (SZ) Listed are general guidelines for <br /> ' delineation of work zones <br /> ' 1 Exclusion Zone An Exclusion Zone (EZ)will be identified in areas where drilling, <br /> soil sampling, installation/purging/sampling monitoring wells, and excavation and/or <br /> construction activities will be conducted The EZ is the area where contamination does <br /> or could potentially exist A minimum 10-foot distance surrounding this area will be <br /> demarcated with cones, barricades, and/or caution tape depending on location to <br /> employees, general public, and high traffic areas Personnel entering the EZ must enter <br /> through the DZ and wear the prescribed level of PPE Any personnel, equipment, or <br /> materials exiting the EZ will be considered contaminated and must be subjected to <br /> ' decontamination procedures <br /> ' 2 Decontamination Zone The Decontamination Zone (DZ) is adjacent to the EZ The <br /> DZ is a transition zone between the contaminated area(EZ) and the uncontaminated area <br /> (SZ) and will be demarcated at its boundaries with barricades, cones, and/or caution tape <br /> depending on location to employees, general public, and high traffic areas <br /> Decontamination procedures are performed in the DZ in order to minimize the potential <br /> of physically transferring contaminants from the EZ to the SZ <br /> ' 3 Support Zone The Support Zone (SZ) is the outermost zone adjacent to the DZ <br /> The SZ is considered to be uncontaminated The SZ and DZ should be easily accessible <br /> ' and located upwind of the EZ <br /> Site Health&Safety Plan9 08/14/03 <br /> TREADWELL&ROLLO,INC <br />
