The field work was conducted as outlined in the AGE-prepared Phase HSite
Assessment Work Plan, dated 25 September 2002.
The soil probe borings were advanced utilizing a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400, equipped with
1.25-inch diameter probe rods with an attached 1.50-inch diameter soil sampler, using a hydraulic
hammer to drive the soil sampler to the specified depths. The six borings were advanced vertically
to depths of 20 feet below surface grade(bsg).
During the boring operation, soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 10 feet bsg,
to the total depth of each boring. Each sample was collected utilizing a 1.50-inch Geoprobe soil
sampling assembly loaded with four six-inch brass sleeves. After collection, the ends of the second
brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape. The sleeve was labeled
with soil probe boring location, depth, time, date and sampler's initials and then placed in a chilled
container.
The soil from one of the three remaining sleeves was field-screened for the presence of volatile
organic compounds, using an organic vapor meter(OVM) equipped with photo-ionization detector
(PID). Soils encountered in the borings were also visually classified by an AGE geologist in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS).
EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION/BORING ABANDONMENT
Prior to sample collection, the Geoprobe soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after being washed with a solution ofAlconox. In addition, the Geoprobe rods were thoroughly
cleaned prior to soil probe boring advancement.
Following soil sample collection, all probe-boring locations were abandoned by backfilling with
portland cement from the total depth to surface grade.
Advanced GcoEnvinnunental,Inc
