Special Provisions If the Contractor does not expose all required utilities prior to shop <br /> drawing preparation, he shall not be entitled to additional compensation for work <br /> ' necessary to avoid interferences, nor for repair to damaged utilities <br /> Any necessary relocations of utilities, whether shown on the Drawings or not, shall be <br /> ' coordinated with the affected utility The Contractor shall perform the relocation only if <br /> instructed to do so in writing from the utility and the Engineer <br /> There are existing overhead electric and telephone transmission lines near the facility <br /> ' These overhead utilities may not all be shown on the Drawings Extreme caution shall <br /> be used when working in the vicinity of overhead utilities so as to prevent injury to <br /> workers or damage to the utilities The Contractor shall be required to comply with the <br /> applicable provisions of the California Construction Safety Orders when working <br /> anywhere on this project <br /> Existing gas, water, sewer and telephone house laterals are not specifically shown on <br /> the drawings but may exist along the pipeline routes Protect all service laterals from <br /> damage due to construction operations If any laterals are damaged, notify the <br /> Engineer and the affected utility immediately The cost of repair shall be borne by the <br /> Contractor <br /> ' SECTION 34— PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT <br /> The Contractor shall employ only competent workmen for the execution of the work and <br /> all such work shall be performed under the direct supervision of experienced water well <br /> drillers and pump installers <br /> The Contractor shall furnish drilling equipment and pump installation equipment <br /> complete with all necessary tools and appurtenances of adequate capacity to complete <br /> the work The drilling equipment shall be equipped with a weight indicator that can <br /> ' accurately measure the total casing load All equipment to be used for the performance <br /> of the work shall comply with all Federal, State and local safety regulations Downhole <br /> drilling and pump equipment shall be disinfected prior to use on the project <br /> SECTION 35—SECURITY <br /> ' Contractor shall be fully responsible for the safety and security of all work areas at all <br /> times Contractor shall take such measures as are necessary to prevent access of <br /> unauthorized persons and animals into the drilling sites Such measures shall include <br /> ' fencing, posting of signs, temporary closure of excavations, or other means, and shall <br /> be maintained throughout the course of the work <br /> SECTION 36 — NOTIFICATION <br /> The Contractor shall give notice to the Engineer in writing or by telephone of specific <br /> ' operations as follows <br /> 1 Forty-eight (48) hours advance notice of intent to start any drilling operations <br /> August 2001 Division It -15 Ball Park& Park& Ride Wells Ph 1 <br /> r <br />
