The Contractor shall present at the preconstruction conference, for the Engineer's <br /> approval, a complete and comprehensive plan describing how traffic control will be <br /> achieved during the life of the project <br /> The Contractor shall comply with the latest edition of the "Work Area Traffic Control <br /> Handbook" published by Building News Inc and "Manual of Uniform Traffic Control <br /> Devices, Part VI", hereinafter referred to as the Traffic Control Manual, for items related <br /> to traffic control within the work area <br /> Construction area signs shall be furnished, installed, maintained and removed by the <br /> Contractor when no longer required The term "Construction Area Signs" shall also <br /> include temporary object markers and portable delineators required for the direction of <br /> public traffic through or around the work area during construction Object markers and <br /> portable delineators listed or designated on the plans shall be furnished, installed, <br /> maintained, and removed by the Contractor in the same manner specified for <br /> construction area signs <br /> The provisions in this section will not relieve the Contractor form his responsibility to <br /> A provide such additional devices or take such measures as may be necessary to comply <br /> with the provisions of Section 7-1 09, Public Safety, of the State Standard <br /> Specifications If any component in the traffic control system is displaced or ceases to <br /> operate or function as specified from any cause during the progress of the work, the <br /> Contractor shall immediately repair or replace said component and shall restore the <br /> component to its original location <br /> Construction is on City-owned property and provisions shall be made for the safe <br /> passage of vehicular and pedestrians traffic around the area of the work at all times <br /> Every effort shall be made by the Contractor to permit access into private driveways <br /> Local and emergency traffic shall be given access to their destination through the <br /> project area The Contractor shall be responsible for keeping the City Police <br /> Department and City Fire Department informed of obstructions to either public or private <br /> roads caused by his operations <br /> As needed, the Contractor shall post "No Parking, Tow-Away" signs on barricades along <br /> the roadway adjacent to the project site's perimeter at least 48 hours prior to the <br /> Construction work in that area Should the construction work not occur on the specified <br /> day, new notices shall be distributed by the Contractor <br /> Traffic lane and street closures shall be as directed by the Engineer, and under no <br /> circumstances shall the Contractor close off a street for any period of time without prior <br /> approval from the Engineer <br /> The full width on the traveled way shall be open for use by public traffic on Saturdays, <br /> Sundays, designated City holidays, after 3 OOpm on Friday's, the day preceding <br /> ` designated legal holidays, and when construction operations are not actively in <br /> progress <br /> The Contractor shall furnish, install, maintain and remove at his expense all barricades, <br /> signs, lights, or other devices necessary to adequately warn of any obstructions to the <br /> ' vehicular or pedestrian travel way Flagmen shall be provided as necessary for the <br /> safety of pedestrians and vehicular traffic, and to provide access to property adjacent to <br /> the work <br /> August 2001 Division 111 -4 Ball Park& Park& Ride Wells Ph 1 <br />
