The site is currently used as a
convenience store facility and retails gasoline under the name Cheapen #37.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site has been used as a compact mass merchant with retail gasoline facilities.
Environmental History - Kleinfelder
"—' Two 10,000-gallon gasoline tanks were removed from the property on March 3 1988
by California Petroleum Equipment Company Groundwater was 7 feet below grade
surface (BGS) The tank excavation was de-watered and sampled prior to the new
tank installation Soil samples showed a high concentration of 30 ppm TPH-g and
the water sample showed 1.5 ppm TPH--g
Three groundwater monitoring wells were installed by lCeinfelder in April, 1988,
and a fourth well in May, 1988. Groundwater flow was to the north with a gradient
of 004 to 009 (Memfelder) Water sample analysis in May, 1988, showed TPH-g at
140 ppb and benzene at 2 7 ppb
Environmental History - Parker
In August, 1992, Parker Environmental Services repaired the well tops for MW-1,
MW-2, and MW-3, cutting the stand tops and installing flush-mount well boxes.
Locking well caps and locks were placed on each well at this time. The wells were re-
surveyed by Benchmark Consultants 1n September, 1992. '
Monitoring well sampling was done by Parker Environmental Services in
September, 1992 Free product (approximately one inch) was found in MW-4, which
is by the tanks near the store front. MW-2 had a soil blockage at six feet BGS TPH-g
was present in MW-1 (220 ppb), benzene in MW-1 (2.1 ppb) and MW-3 (0 7 ppb),
toluene and xylenes in both, and ethylbenzene in MW-1 only
Parker Environmental Services, 190 East 7th Street, Pittsburg, CA 94565-2317
Phone (415) 439-1024 Fax (415) 439-2566
