08 January 1996
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0105
Laboratory results of soil samples collected during the installation of monitoring well MW-3
confirmed the presence of hydrocarbon-impacted soil.
After installation, a ground water sample was collected from each well. Low concentrations of total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g), xylene and ethylene dibromide (EDB) were detected
in the sample from MW-3. Coliform was also detected in samples from each well, No petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected in soil or ground water samples collected from MW-1 or MW-2.
Ground water at the site ranges from 8 to 10 feet below grade with a northerly flow direction.
2.4. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
On 22 February 1995, two soil borings were drilled at the site under the direction of Geological Audit
Services, Inc. (GAS). Soil and ground water samples were collected from each boring. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected in both soil and grab ground water samples from each boring.
2.5. EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES
Excavation of impacted soil was performed on 17 April, 25 May and 26 Tune 1995. A total of
approximately 200 cubic yards of soil were excavated from the site. The excavated soil was
transported and disposed at Forward Landfill in Manteca, California. The excavation was backfilled
in June 1995.
Analysis of soil samples collected upon completion of excavation indicated that petroleum
hydrocarbons were present near the northwest corner of the property and near the former dispenser
island.
3.4. SCOPE OF WORK
3.1. PROBING AND SAMPLING
Based upon analytical results of soil samples collected after excavation, the PHS-EHD is requiring
additional investigation of impacted soil and ground water at the site.
AGE proposes to advance at least six soil probings at the site to determine the extent of impacted
soil. One probing will advanced west of the former UST area, withing Parker Avenue; two probings
will be advanced north of the site within Grant Line Road; one probing will be advanced at the
northwest corner of the site; and one probing will be advanced south of the former pump islands.
Proposed probing locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
