Dividend Develo me
p at Company July 22, 1991
Report of Findings - North Parcel Page 7
SOIL BORING AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES;
Seven (7) soil borings were drilled for this project, beginning on
May 21, 1991. Each boring was subsequently converted to a
monitoring well. During the drilling, . TTI field personnel
classified the subsurface soils and logged the bore holes. Boring
Logs are presented in Appendix B.
i
The monitoring wells, with the exception of MW-5, were drilled to
maximum depths of approximately twenty feet (201 ) . MW-5 was
drilled to a total depth of thirty-nine feet (39f ) . The wells were
constructed according to EPA protocol. To minimize the potential
for cross contamination, the casing and associated equipment were
steam cleaned prior 'to drilling of the bore holes. The California
Modified sampling equipment was cleaned with trisodium phosphate
detergent solution and a distilled water rinse prior to the
collection of each soil sample for laboratory analysis.
To best characterize the lithology beneath the site, TTI used
continuous coring methods to sample the subsurface soils with the
exception of the lower part of MW-5. In MW-5, a standard eighteen
inch (18") split spoon sampler was used below twenty feet (201 )
because of resistant drilling conditions encountered. Soil'samples
were collected at five foot (51 ) intervals. The cores were
analyzed in the field for soil vapor (reference Boring Logs,
Appendix B) . The collected soil samples were immediately placed in
glass jars with teflon sealing lids and placed in an ice chest with
ice.
. i
Toxic Technology, Inc.
k
