' Harding Lawson Associates
document also included the results of a feasibility study and
recommendations for remediation. In March 1989, the underground
' tanks and fuel dispensing facilities were removed from the site.
During these activities, an observation and groundwater
monitoring well (NW-A and MW 7) were destroyed. The remaining 14
HLA wells were left intact.
The purpose of the remediation described herein is to treat
soil and groundwater affected by on-site sources. Specifically,
this plan proposes to install a capture trench along the front of
' the store with the means to provide soil vapor extraction and, if
necessary, groundwater extraction. Extracted vadose vapors will
be treated with vapor phase granular-activated carbon (GAC)
reactors connected in series before discharge to the atmosphere.
If groundwater extraction is required, then liquid phase GAC
would be used for treatment before discharge into the storm drain
system.
2
