February 11, 1993 Working To Restore Nature
BP Oil Facihty No 11191,Stockton,California
1.2 Site Location and Description
I BP Oil Facility No 11191 is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of East Hammer
Lane and West Lane in Stockton, California The site is presently an operating retail service
station with underground fuel storage tanks and no underground used-oil tank. Plate 2 shows the
layout of the site and the locations of existing underground storage tanks and associated piping
and dispenser islands as well as other pertinent site features
I1.3 Sensitive Repeptor Survey
A sensitive receptor survey and existing well search were performed to identify nearby
environmental elements and land uses that may be affected by the existing BP Oil site or affect
the subsurface conditions at the site. A copy of the completed sensitive receptor survey form and
the results of the well survey are presented. in Appendix A
2.0 FIELD WORK
The procedures and methods used during field activities are discussed below, and a description
of the dulling and sampling procedures is presented in Appendix B. RESNA performed the
work in accordance with our work plan (dated October 13, 1992) for the subject site. Permits are
presented in Appendix C
2 1 SQil Borings and Sampling
On December 2 and 3, 1992, four exploratory borings were dulled at the site All drilling
I activities were performed by Kvilhaug Well Drilling and Pump Company, Inc of Concord,
California using a truck-mounted Mobile B-53 drilling ng Soil borings were dulled using 7 25-
inch-diameter hollow-stem-augers to depths of approximately 46 5 feet below grade Borings B-
i and B-2 were drilled in the vicinity of the underground fuel storage tanks Borings B-3 and B-
4 were drilled southwest of the dispenser islands and associated piping All borings were
backfilled to grade with neat cement using the tremie pipe method. The locations of the soil
borings are shown in Plate 2
Boring logs were prepared using the Unified Soil Classification System including a description
of soil characteristics such as color, moisture, consistency, and field readings using an organic
Ivapor meter The Boring Logs are included as Appendix D
3.0 ANALYTICAL METHODS
All laboratory analyses of soil samples were performed by a California-certified analytical
laboratory, using standard test methods of the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and
the California Department of Health Services (DHS) PACE Laboratories, Inc of Novato,
ICalifornia analyzed selected soil samples
Selected soil samples from the borings were analyzed for the following Purgeable fuel
hydrocarbons as gasoline, equivalent to total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg),
using EPA Methods 5030/8015 (modified)
17M of 2
