Working To Restore Nature
February 12, 1993
BP Oil Facility No. 11193, Stockton. California.
r1.22 Site Location and Description
• BP Oil Facility No. 11193 is located at 3202 West Hammer Lane, in Stockton. California.
The site is presently an operating service station with underground fuel-storage tanks and
rone underground used-oil tank. Plate 2 shows the layout of the site and the locations of
existing underground storage tanks and dispenser islands and other pertinent features.
•
r 1.33 Sensitive Receptor Survey
A sensitive receptor survey and existing well search were performed to identify nearby
environmental elements and land uses that may be affected by the existing BP Oil site or
affect the subsurface conditions at the site. A copy of the completed sensitive receptor
' survey form and the results of the well survey are presented in Appendix A.
•
2.0 FIELD WORK
' The procedures and methods used during field activities are discussed below, and a
description of the drilling and sampling procedures is presented in Appendix B. Permits are
presented in Appendix C. We performed the work in accordance with RESNA Industries,
Inc. work plan for the site (dated October 13, 1992).
' 2_1 Soil Borings and Sampling
On December 3, 4, and 10, 1992, four exploratory borings were drilled at the site. Drilling
' activities were performed by Kvilhaug Well Drilling and Pump Company, Inc. of Concord,
California. The soil borings were drilled to depths ranging from 31.0 feet to 36.5 feet below
ground surface. Borings B-1 and B-2 were drilled in the vicinity to the underground fuel-
storage tanks, and boring B-3 was drilled in the vicinity of the dispenser islands and
associated piping. Boring B-4 was drilled adjacent to the used-oil tank. The boring
• locations are shown in Plate 2.
' The geologist collected soil samples from the borings for classification and possible
laboratory analyses. Samples were logged using visual and manual methods and classified
' according to the Unified Soil Classification System and screened with a photoionization
p detector. Descriptions of the sediments encountered and the photoionization detector
readings are included on the Boring Logs (Appendix D).
1
•
i
i1701-012
