Site Code: 1130
3555 Hammer Ln.
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)has reviewed the
Additional Groundwater Investigation Report dated April 8,1999 prepared by ATC Associates for the
above referenced site. The analytical results evidence Methyl tertiary Bury] Ether, Benzene,Tert Butanol,
Toluene and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline contaminants in groundwater. The soil and
groundwater samples were collected from borings constructed south of the above referenced site in an
attempt to define the contaminant plume edge in that direction. A well survey was to have been conducted
during this phase of investigation work(see Additional Groundwater Investigation Work Plan dated
November 17, 1998,Task 3)as per PHS/EHD letter dated April 27, 1998. PHS/EHD has not received the
well survey and receptor report.
Conduct a complete well survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any other wells within
a 2,000 foot radius of this site. Contact the Department of Water Resources, municipal water suppliers and
nearby industries for well information. Perform a physical search of the area to identify any wells. Show ! t
the locations of all wells, submit any known construction details of the wells. Identify all sources of
information in the well survey report and clearly depict each well location as they relate to the above
referenced site. Discuss conclusions regarding public and environmental health risks as they relate to the
pumping influence of these identified wells and the migration and potential impact of the contaminant
plume.
A Work Plan to determine the lateral extent of the contaminant plume at this site should be submitted to
PHS/EHD by June 20, 1999. PHS/EHD recommends the placement of a Monitoring Well(MW)near
boring #ATC-2 to monitor and evaluate off site migration of contaminant concentrations in the
groundwater. Additional M Ws may be necessary to complete the lateral extent of the contaminant plume at
this site.
When the contaminant plume has been defined, feasibility tests should be conducted in order to compare at
least two different remediation alternatives. Quarterly Monitoring of all MWs should continue until
otherwise directed by this office. Contact Carol Oz,Senior REHS at(209)468-3440 if you have further
questions regarding this letter.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Carol Oz, Senior REHS Margaret REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
cc: Mark List-CVRWQCB
Drew Van Allen-ATC
A Division of San Joaquin County Hcalth Care Scrvic
