Nestle USA, Inc., Ripon, California March 26, 2014
2013 Annual Report
• Private wells located on the north and south sides of the Stanislaus River, including
those with wellhead treatment systems;
• Production wells and test holes located on the Diamond Pet Food Processors of Ripon,
LLC (Diamond Pet Food) property;
• Potable and non-potable water supply wells installed and operated by the City of Ripon;
and
• Monitoring wells installed by City of Ripon.
Pursuant to the MRP, ECM sampled the wells as described in the following sections.
2.1.1 NESTLE MONITORING WELLS
Nestle has installed 138 groundwater monitoring, vapor extraction, and groundwater
extraction wells in the Ripon Study Area since 1986. The network includes three monitoring
wells (M-55A, M-56A, and M-57A) installed in January 2013. Table A-1 (presented in
Appendix A) provides well construction information for each well, including the date the well
was drilled, well-screen intervals, well status (e.g., monitoring frequency, decommissioned,
etc.), and current groundwater sampling frequency.
2.1.2 PRIVATE WELLS
Pursuant to current MRP requirements, ECM sampled the following 25 private wells in 2013:
• Four school wells in Ripon; three are used exclusively for landscaping irrigation and
one is used for both landscaping irrigation and drinking water;
• One private drinking water well on Parallel Avenue';
• One drinking water well on Manley Avenue;
• One Caltrans well used for landscape irrigation;
• One private drinking water well on Robert Avenue;
• Eight private drinking water wells south of the Stanislaus River;
• One irrigation well south of the Stanislaus River;
• Two production wells on the Diamond Pet Food property; and
• Six test holes on the Diamond Pet Food property.
ECM also sampled influent, mid, and effluent sampling points at three domestic wells with
granular activated carbon (GAC) wellhead treatment systems. The wells are located at 5725 Hall
Road, 7501 Kiernan Avenue, and 802 Vera Avenue.
a The 2010 MRP lists three wells on Parallel Avenue; however, the well at 501 Parallel has been properly closed
and the house is connected to the City of Ripon water supply. The well at 415 Parallel Avenue was not sampled
since 2010 because the house has been condemned by the City of Ripon. ECM field personnel visually
confirmed that the house remained vacant during each quarter of 2013.
2
