Nestle USA, Inc., Ripon, California August 11, 2009 <br /> Second Quarter 2009 Site Status Report <br /> Study Area and thins somewhat in the northerly and easterly directions away from the <br /> Study Area. <br /> Upper Aquifer, primarily consisting of the B and A units, generally ranging from <br /> 25 to 115 feet bgs. The A zone is further subdivided in the Updated SCM into 3 <br /> zones: Upper A zone (50-80 ft bgs), middle A zone (80-95 ft bgs) and the lower A <br /> zone (100-115 ft bgs). Soils in the 0 to 25 feet bgs range are typically <br /> unsaturated (Vadose Zone). <br /> Intermediate Aquifer, consisting of the C1 and C2 units, generally ranging from <br /> 110 to 190 feet bgs; and <br /> Lower Aquifer, consisting of the D unit, generally ranging from 190 feet bgs to <br /> approximately 700 feet bgs, below which the water is no longer potable. <br /> 3 FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> The field work performed during the second quarter of 2009 for the monitoring <br /> program is discussed below. This monitoring program includes four active and two <br /> temporarily inactive groundwater extraction wells and 113 groundwater monitoring <br /> wells that were installed by Nestle in the Upper, Intermediate and Lower aquifers. <br /> These groundwater monitoring wells are screened in the following intervals: <br /> oo 56 monitoring wells and 1 shallow vapor extraction well in the Upper Aquifer, <br /> oo 37 monitoring wells in the Intermediate Aquifer, and <br /> oo 19 monitoring wells in the Lower Aquifer. <br /> In addition to those described above, other wells sampled or monitored this quarter <br /> pursuant to the MRP were: <br /> oo Two private wellhead treatment systems located south of the Stanislaus River; <br /> oo Eleven municipal production wells (MW-3, MW-5, MW-7, MW-9, MW-10, MW-11, <br /> MW-12, MW-13, MW-14, MW-16, and MW-18) and three monitoring wells (MW- <br /> 9mon, MW-10mon, and MW-14mon) owned by the City of Ripon (City); <br /> oo Three production wells (PW-6, PW-7, and PW-8) and eleven monitoring wells <br /> (TH-1, TH-2, TH-32, TH-4, TH-5, TH-6, TH-7, TH-8, TH-9, TH-10, and TH-11) <br /> owned by Neenah Paper Company (Neenah); <br /> oo Two domestic wells on Parallel Avenue 3; <br /> oo Ten domestic wells on the south side of the Stanislaus River; <br /> oo One irrigation well on the south side of the Stanislaus River; <br /> oo One drinking/irrigation water supply well for the Ripon Christian School (RC-1); <br /> oo One irrigation well operated at the Ripon Christian School (RC-2); <br /> oo Two irrigation wells operated at a Ripon Public School (RPS-1 and RPS-2); and <br /> 2 Note that monitoring or sampling TH-3 is not required by the MRP. <br /> 3 Note that, according to the property owner of 501 Parallel, the water supply to 501 Parallel is <br /> provided by the City of Ripon and the well at this location has been abandoned. <br /> 2 <br />
