Boyett Petroleum, Inc.
419 S Main Street, Manteca, CA May 9, 2000
Receptor Survey Pag=e: 3
' 3.0 Scope of Work
On March 23, April 3, and May 5, 2000, WHF conducted interviews coupled with a
' physical site inspection of the subject property to locate and identify any receptors within
the area identified in Figures 1 through 4. A receptor is defined as entities such as
streams, rivers, city wells, domestic wells, etc, that would receive contamination and yield
' potential risk to human health. It is the purpose of this study to address if groundwater
contamination will reach these receptors and pose a risk to public health.
' 3.1 Grounrlivater Coalitions
' Groundwater levels have varied between thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) feet
below ground level. According to the data generated from WW's Quarterly
Groundwater Monitoring Reports, the groundwater direction varies from
northwest to northeast. The groundwater gradient at this site has been between
0.001 ft/ft to 0.016 ft/ft.
' California and the Federal Government have mandated that virtually all
groundwater is beneficial for the current or future use unless it can be
demonstrated that no beneficial use is known.
This aquifer is considered to be of beneficial use and as a result, must be protected
from contamination. Those identified uses include agriculture and industrial, as
' well as potential use for animal or human consumption.
' 3.2 Receptors
The following agencies were contacted in an effort to discover the locations of any
' receptors within two thousand (2,000) feet of the site: the City of Manteca, San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, and the State of California Department of
' Water Resources.
The State of California and the City of Manteca identified one City of Manteca
' Public Well, Well # 5 located at 331 Jessie Road, just south of Oregon Street. Well
# 5 is approximately 1,000' to the west of the subject property (Figure 4). Several
Manteca City Wells in the area surrounding the subject property were also
identified, but these City Wells were not within a 2000' radius of the Boyett
Petroleum Facility (Appendix A and Figure 4). The City Wells in the vicinity of
the subject property, just outside the survey's 2,000' radius, are identified below.
■
• Well # 3 approximately 2,300' to the northeast.
. ■ Well # 9 located approximately 3,700' to the west.
1
