2 . Sealing Mater=al: <br /> Ca. Neat Cement - 1 bag (94 lbs.) Vortland Cement to 5 to 10 <br /> gallons of clean water. <br /> M <br /> b. Cement Grout - Not more than two (2) parts by weight of sand <br /> and one (1) part of cement (per bag of cement) to 5 to 7 gallons <br /> of clean water. <br /> C. Quick setting cement, retardants to setting and other additives, <br /> including hydrated lime, up to lO% of the volume of cement and <br /> bentonite up to 5% may be used. <br /> d. Bentonite clay may be used as sealing material. <br /> 3. In grouting the annular space, the grout shall be applied in one <br /> continuous process, to the initial set when less than 100 sacks <br /> are required. The annular seal shall have a nominal thickness of <br /> two (2) inches. <br /> B. SEALING OFF STRATA <br /> y <br /> 1. Aquifers penetrated that contain poor quality water shall be sealed . <br /> to prevent contamination. Methods shall be reviewed and approved <br /> by the District Health Officer. <br /> C. SURFACE SEAL <br /> 1. A monolithically poured concrete platform shall be constructed <br /> around the top of the well on thoroughly compacted earth, whether <br /> the pump is mounted over the well, offset , or is of a submersible <br /> type. <br /> 2.
