` KLE/NF-EL... <br /> c.;nf s:oNf. <br /> Based on previous geotechnical studies at Dameron, Kleinfelder expects groundwater <br /> to be approximately 20 feet bgs which is below to proposed exploration depth of 16 feet <br /> bgs. <br /> PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Kleinfelder submitted a work plan, health and safety plan and boring permit application <br /> packet to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD). The <br /> work plan was titled "Work Plan, Underground Storage Tank Soil Evaluation, Dameron <br /> Hospital, 525 W. Acacia Street, Stockton, California (File No. 124508.1/ST011P171, <br /> dated December 28, 2011). An approved boring permit was obtained prior to initiating <br /> the field activities. The site was marked for utilities, and Underground Services Alert <br /> was contacted at least 48 hours prior to field activities. For a copy of the boring permits, <br /> please refer to Attachment D. <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> On January 6, 2012, Kleinfelder performed a limited soil assessment at the site. <br /> Advancement of four push probes was conducted by a pushprobe (Geoprobe) <br /> contractor, V&W Drilling of Stockton, California (V&W). <br /> V&W advanced four probes, two near the fill end (P-1 and P-2), one on the opposing <br /> west end (P-4), and one near the middle area of the UST (P-3). Approximate probe <br /> locations are depicted on attached Plate 2. Each of the probes was advanced to a <br /> maximum depth of 16 feet bgs. Groundwater was not observed during the probing <br /> operations. <br /> Prior to the mechanical advancement of the pushprobes, the first 5 feet at each probe <br /> were hand-augered to assess potential underground utilities. After hand augering, the <br /> push probes were pneumatically advanced using a 4-foot steel core barrel. During <br /> advancement of the push probes, soil samples were continuously collected for logging <br /> purposes, field screening, and potential chemical analysis. Soil samples were collected <br /> by inserting a new 4-foot acetate liner into the core barrel prior to each drive. Soil <br /> samples obtained for potential chemical analysis were collected at desired intervals <br /> (approximately 7, 12, and 16 feet bgs), by removing the acetate liner and cutting out the <br /> desired 6-inch interval. The acetate soil sample containers were then removed from the <br /> boring and sealed with Teflon° sheeting and tight-fitting plastic end caps. <br /> The soil samples collected were field screened using a photo-ionization detector (PID) <br /> as described in Attachment B, Section B-2.3. PID readings were recorded on the boring <br /> logs located in Attachment A. PID readings were found to be negative (0 ppmv).
