The soils generally included primarily lean clays in the upper approximate 5
feet underlain by silty sands (very fine to fine grained) with some clay. For additional
details see Attachment A.
Sample Collection, Handling and Cleaning
After collection, the soil samples were labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody form, and
immediately stored in an iced cooler pending transportation to the analytical laboratory.
The down-hole push probe equipment was decontaminated between sample and probe
locations with a Liquinox® (laboratory-grade detergent) and potable water wash and a
distilled water rinse. Acetate liners provided were new and disposable.
The soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody control to Kleinfelder's office
and then transported by courier in a chilled container to California Laboratory Services
(CLS) of Rancho Cordova, California. Each individual who handled the samples,
including the sampler and the receiving employee at CLS, signed the chain-of-custody
form. CLS is accredited by the State of California to perform the analyses requested.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Twelve soil samples were collected from the four soil probes for the following analyses:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel (TPHd) by
EPA Method 8015M
Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and total Xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method
8260B
The samples were analyzed on a standard 5-day turnaround schedule for completion.
None of the requested petroleum constituents, including TPHd or BTEX, were detected
at or above laboratory reporting limits in the 12 soil samples submitted for chemical
analyses. For details refer to the chain-of-custody form and analytical reports in
Attachment C.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The following conclusion and recommendations are based upon field observations and
analytical results.
Kleinfelder's field observations were negative regarding indications of
petroleum contamination from the soil samples collected adjacent to the
124508.T3/ST012R0251 Page 3 of 6 February 20,2012
Copyright 2012 Weinfelder
