material storage containers is presented on Figure 10a, Photo No.l. A photograph of the sealand
storage containers is presented on Figure 10e,Photo No. .
4.1.2 Chemical Materials/Wastes
The wash rack is located west of the equipment building and is a three-part system consisting of a
separate mud rinse slab, a wash rack slab area with a solids collection interceptor trench(grease/sand
trap) floor drain, a steam cleaning unit and an oil/water s parator discharging directly to the sanitary
sewer. The oil/water separator is located on the northernboundary of the Site north of the wash rack.
The oil/water separator consists of an approximate 7,6100-liter (2,000-gallon) holding tank. Three
sewer clean-out covers are located north of the equipment building and office. The wash rack was
constructed in 1970 and the mud rinse and oil/water separator was installed in 1999. Photographs of
the wash rack and oil water separator are presented on Figure 10d.
A 5,600-liter (1,500-gallon) concrete septic tank and leach field located west of the wash rack was
installed in 1970. The septic tank and leach field were abandoned in July 1999, and a mud rinse
concrete slab, oil/water separator and clarifier, and extens on of the city sewer line were subsequently
installed. The septic tank and leach field piping has r portedly been cleaned and removed. The
excavation was reportedly backfilled with rock from the leach field. The restrooms were disconnecfed
from the septic system in the early 1990s when remodeling activities were performed for the office and
equipment building. The wash rack discharged into the septic tank and leach field until 1999.
The self-generated waste is contained in hazardous materia is storage containers located south of the gas
house. Two sealand storage containers are located near 1 he southwestern boundary of the Site. The
container located on the southwestern boundary is utilized for pesticide storage and the container
northwest of the wood storage shed is utilized for spill a sorbent storage. One debris/trash container
covered with a portable canopy is located on the eastern site boundary northeast of the warehouse. A
roll-top container located east of the debris/trash container is utilized for tire disposal/recycling. A
photograph of the hazardous material containers is presented on Figure 10a, Photo No. 1, and a
photograph of the sealand storage containers is presented o i Figure 10e,Photo No. 9.
A battery storage container is located in the material storage bins and batteries are located in the
fourth bay of the equipment building. A 380-liter (100-gallon) hydraulic oil AST is located in the
second bay of the equipment building that services a below-grade electric hydraulic hoist lift. A Safety
Kleen parts cleaner basin and 210-liter (55-gallon) steel drums and overhead hose reels containing
new motor oil, lube oil, hydraulic fluid, automatic trans 'ssion fluid and grease are located in the
second and third bay. Containers of petroleum products spray cans and paints were noted on the
storage shelves and inside the lockers located in the equipment building. A photograph of the
hydraulic lift, hydraulic oil AST and drums is presented on Figure 10a,Photo No. 2.
I
i
I
Project No.S8225-06-146 - 14- May 25,2001
I
i
I
