4.7 Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention <br /> Tetra Tech's policies include procedures for the prevention and treatment of alcohol and drug <br /> abuse. <br /> 4.8 Safety and Health Meetings <br /> Prior to commencement of activities, a safety and health meeting will be conducted for all <br /> contractor personnel. A mandatory safety and health meeting will be held on a daily basis. <br /> Additional tailgate safety meetings or safety briefings will be held any time that it is deemed <br /> necessary by the SSHO. General items to be covered in each meeting may include the location <br /> of the nearest telephone for emergency reporting, a description of the work to be performed, <br /> special safety precautions necessary for the work to be done, a question and answer period, and <br /> other subjects as deemed appropriate by the SSHO. Personnel are encouraged to bring any <br /> questions or concerns to the attention of the FM. At the tailgate meetings work/rest schedules <br /> will be developed based on such factors as ambient temperature, duration, and intensity of work. <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Selection of the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required prior to the <br /> commencement of work. Key factors involved in this process are identification of known and <br /> suspected hazards, routes of entry, and the performance of the PPE in providing a barrier to these <br /> hazards. <br /> PPE is divided into four categories based on the amount of protection afforded. Level A is the <br /> highest level of protection and Level D is the lowest.
