Site Safety Plan: Subsurface Investigation and Safety Plan Page 5 <br /> Remedial Excavation of Hydrocarbon-affected Soil <br /> Proposed Cintra Park Phase II Devela ment, Tract 2705, Tracy, California <br /> exceed two times the TLV,then work will be suspended and appropriate environmental controls will <br /> be implemented to reduce concentrations to below twc times the TLV. <br /> 4.3 Bonding and Grounding <br /> Drilling and excavating equipment will be bonded and ounded during all operations. Handling and <br /> transporting equipment will also be bonded and grounded during loading and containment of soils <br /> and during pumping and transfer of leachate. <br /> 4.4 General Measures <br /> Underground utilities will be identified prior to operatio i,and power lines and pipelines will be shut <br /> down, locked out, and tagged, as appropriate, particularly the power supply and emergency <br /> "shutoffs" for dispenser pumps and associated delive lines. <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Field personnel involved in the site remediation mut be prepared with the following personal <br /> protective equipment: <br /> • Hard hats <br /> • Half-face air purifying respirators with o ganic vapor cartridges and dust/mist filters <br /> • Safety glasses with side-shields, or splash goggles <br /> 0 Work overalls or other suitable work clothing <br /> • Chemical-resistant gloves <br /> • Steel-toe boots or boot covers <br /> • Hearing protectors or ear plugs <br /> 6.0 ENGINEERING CONTROLS <br /> The Project Safety Manager will limit access to work areas to essential personnel. Drilling areas will <br /> be cordoned off with delineators, barriers, or taping If borings must remain open overnight, <br /> delineators will be placed around the excavation areas. Excavated soil will be stockpiled and <br /> covered with plastic sheeting, or stored in closed drums or roll-off bins. <br /> 7.0 EMERGENCY RESPONSE <br /> The Project Safety Officer will have controlling authori during an emergency. In the event that this <br /> person is not available, the Alternative Safety Officer will be in charge.
