1
1 7hMdweIERdk
1 2.1 Area 2A
1 This site is referred to as the Former Union Oil, L&M Petroleum, and Morton Paint site
(Figure 2). The site is located west of Lincoln Avenue between Market Street and Webber
1 Avenue. Petroleum facilities operated on the site from at least 1917 until the late 1970's. The
Morton Paint facility operated in the southern portion of Area 2A from the early 1970s until the
1 late 1980s or early 1990s. Currently the site is primarily a vacant plowed lot with no structures
remaining. The northern portion is being used as an unpaved parking lot(Figure 4).
1 Previous site investigations were performed by Treadwell & Rollo (Treadwell & Rollo 1996a
' and others, and 7 monitoring wells exist at the site. These studies demonstrated that soil and
groundwater at Area 2A has been impacted by lead and fuel hydrocarbons. The chemical
1 analytical results from Treadwell & Rollo's 1996 investigation are summarized in Tables 1
through 5 in Appendix A. Additionally, there were reportedly up to 9 USTs present at the
' Morton Paint facility, but records have not been found which show that all of the USTs have
been removed (Black& Veatch 1998).
1
2.2 Area 2B
1 This site is located west of Lincoln Street and south of Area 2A. This site previously included
the Former Seaside Oil facility at 440 Market Street in the northwest corner of the site, and
1 residential areas (Figure 5). The Seaside facility operated from at least 1950 until the Mormon
Channel was realigned in 1968. No previous soil or groundwater sampling is known to have
1 occurred at this site, and there are no known hazardous materials impacts in soil or groundwater.
Currently the site is a vacant plowed soil lot with no structures remaining.
1
1 2.3 Area 3
This site is located north of Market Street between Lincoln and Van Buren Streets (Figure 6).
' Record review suggests that the site was used primarily for commercial with some residential
use. This site operated as a lumber mill or yard from the 1890s until approximately the 1980s.
1 2
1 25970119.DGD 13 December 1999
