EFFLUENT TREATMENT FACILITIES (40 CFR 112.8(c)(9))
There are no effluent treatment facilities at the Facility.
VISIBLE DISCHARGES (40 CFR 112.8(c)(10))
Visible discharges which result in a loss of oil from the Facility tanks (including but not limited to
seams, gaskets, piping, pumps, valves, rivets, and bolts) that are discovered during routine operations
and/or inspections must be promptly corrected. Any accumulation of oil in the containment area must
be promptly removed.
TRANSFER OPERATION, PUMPING AND IN-PLANT PROCESSES (40 CFR 112.8(d))
Transfer operations at the Facility include transfer of products to and from each tank, to and from
drums, and transfer of product into customer vehicles. All aboveground pipe supports are properly
designed to minimize abrasion and corrosion and to allow for expansion and contraction. Facility staff
complete a visual assessment of all pipes and valves monthly to assess their condition. Lines that are
not in service or are on standby for a long period of time must be capped to prevent them from leaking
BURIED PIPING (40 CFR 112.8(d)(1))
Buried piping at the Facility consists of piping from the USTs to the dispenser islands and from the
ASTs to the dispenser islands (Figure 2). All buried piping at the Facility is constructed of double
walled fiberglass lines, which do not require cathodic protection. If a section of buried line is exposed
for any reason, it must be carefully inspected for damage. If any damage is observed, the magnitude to
the damage must be determined and additional inspection and/or corrective actions must be taken, as
necessary. Additionally, local ordinances may require soil samples to be collected when buried lines
are exposed.
TRANSFER POINT TERMINAL CONNECTIONS (40 CFR 112.8(d)(2))
The terminal connections are labeled and are capped when the piping is not in service or is in standby
for an extended period of time.
PIPING SUPPORTS (40 CFR 112.8(d)(3))
All aboveground pipe supports are properly designed to minimize abrasion and corrosion and to allow
for expansion and contraction. Facility staff complete visual assessments of the supports on a monthly
to assess their condition.
PIPING INSPECTIONS (40 CFR 112.8(d)(4))
All aboveground piping is routinely inspected at the Facility during the monthly tank inspections.
During each inspection, the condition of valves, piping, and appurtenances is assessed.
Joe's Travel Plaza
15600 Harlan Road,Lathrop,CA
Page 22
