i <br /> • Notify the Spill Prevention Manager immediately <br /> • Follow the direction of the Spill Prevention Manager to contain the discharge if it has not been <br /> contained, and clean up response materials and equipment properly <br /> • The Spill prevention Manager will be responsible for completing the discharge notification form <br /> (Attachment D) and storing it with the Plan. <br /> I <br /> If the Spill Prevention Manager is not available at the time of the discharge,then the alternate contact <br /> assumes responsibility for coordinating response activities. <br /> Response to a Major Discharge <br /> Major discharges are defined as discharges which cannot be easily or safely controlled by facility <br /> personnel or pose a significant threat of harm to human health and safety or the environment. Examples <br /> of when a discharge should be treated as a major discharge include but are not limited to: <br /> • The discharge involves a large quantity of product whic ads beyond the immediate area of <br /> the discharge; <br /> • The discharge might enter or enters water; <br /> • Special training or equipment is required in the response to the discharge; <br /> • There is a threat to human health and safety or the environment; or <br /> • There is a danger of fire or explosion. <br /> Facility personnel should not attempt to perform clean up on Lajor discharges and should do the <br /> following: <br /> • All facility personnel should immediately evacuate the discharge area and gather in a <br /> predetermined location a safe distance from the discharge. <br /> • The Spill Prevention Manager should be immediately notified of the discharge if not on site. <br /> • If any facility personnel wei%njured, medical assistance should be requested as appropriate. <br /> • The Spill Prevention Manage or senior staff authorized by the Spill Prevention Manager should <br /> notify all applicable regulatory agencies of the discharge. <br /> • The Spill Prevention Manager or senior staff should contact the spill response contractor listed <br /> on page 27. <br /> • The Spill Prevention Manger aides in coordination activities with any clean up contractor or <br /> other response organizations. <br /> • The Spill Prevention Manager will be responsible for completing the discharge notification form <br /> (Attachment D) and storing it with the Plan. <br /> i <br /> If the Spill Prevention Manager is not available at the time of the discharge,then the alternate contact <br /> assumes responsibility for coordinating response activities. <br /> I <br /> i <br /> WASTE DISPOSAL (40 CFR 112.7 (a)(v)) <br /> Any waste resulting from a minor discharge should be containerized in a 55-gallon steel or poly drum (or <br /> other appropriate container). The Spill Prevention Manager will have the waste characterized and <br /> removed from the site by a licensed waste transporter as soon as possible.
