SAN FRANCISCO FRENCr_ ,READ,STOCKTON, CA SE(,—.( Project No. 50090-011-03
K. Background Information (e.g.,historical operations and environmental investigations):
The site is a former Colombo/Toscana Bakery that was used by the SFFB to produce and distribute
baked food products. In February 1994,two 4.000-gallon capacity underground storage tanks (USTs)
were excavated and removed from the Site under the direction of SEMCO (Figure 2) Two soil
samples collected and analyzed from the base of the west end of the UST excavation (13 feet depth)
were reported to contain total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg),toluene. ethylbenzene and
xylenes at maximum concentrations of 6.300 milligrams per kilograms (mg/kg). 42 mg/kg 50 mg/kg
and 310 mg/kg,respectively. Benzene was not reported above the laboratory detection limit for these
two samples. Three soil samples collected and analyzed from the east end of the excavation and from
beneath the former product lines were reported to contain low to nondetectable petroleum-hydrocarbon
concentrations.
HASFFMSTOCKTONUNCOLN2.14S -6-
