Mr. John Ewing • -2- • 3 September 1993
extraction, treatment, and disposal of treated water to the final discharge point. In addition, effluent
concentrations of diesel, benzene, toulene, ethylbenzene, and xylene from the oil/water separator
and from the aeration basin to the City's ABF treatment system must be determined.
To speed up the initiation of interim remediation activities, the separator should be ordered as soon
as possible so the required samples can be submitted for analysis and the permit to discharge to the
City's ABF treatment system can be obtained. In addition, you must show that discharge to the
industrial wastewater treatment system will not impair the effectiveness of that system.
Site Assessment
As recommended in Kleinfelder's 3 June 1993 letter to you and as you discussed with Wendy Cohen
by telephone on 1 September 1993, it will be necessary to conduct additional site characterization to
determine the lateral extent of free product and dissolved hydrocarbons and the extent of soil
contamination. You stated a work plan for this assessment will be submitted around 10 September
1993. You also stated the submittal will include additional information on the proposed interim
ground water extraction and treatment system.
Schedule
Leprino shall submit the following items by the dates specified:
Work Plan for Additional Site 10 September 1993
Assessment and Interim Ground
Water Extraction and Treatment System
Comments on draft MRP 24 September 1993
All ground water data since 24 September 1993
October 1992
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3048.
PA14
POLLY LOWRY
Associate Engineering Geologist
PAL:Idj
cc: San Joaquin Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Roy Greengrass, Leprino Foods, Tracy
Mr. Dana Booth, Kleinfelder, Sacramento
