Mr. John Ewing • -2- 29 January 1993
Quarterly sampling events shall be conducted at the same time as Mobil 's
monitoring. I suggest you contact Mobil Oil Company regarding access to its
monitoring wells rather than Alton Geoscience, which Kleinfelder's letter
stated was "unwilling to grant access" when they are not present. Only the
owner of the wells has the authority to grant or deny access. If it is not
possible to coordinate with Mobil , then as I stated in my 19 November 1992
letter, you will have to install an additional monitoring well on the Leprino
facility to determine the ground water flow direction.
In my 19 November 1992 letter, I also requested a schedule by 7 December 1992
for resampling EW-1 and MW-1 and reporting the results. Kleinfelder's letter
did not respond to this request. By 19 February 1993, please provide a
schedule for all sampling events planned in the next six months. Pending the
results of the next sampling event, additional wells may be necessary to
define the extent of the contamination.
If you have any questions please call me at (916) 255-3048.
POLLY LOWRY
Associate Engineering Geologist
PAL:Idj
cc: San Joaquin Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Roy Greengrass, Leprino Foods, Tracy
Mr. Dana Booth, Kleinfelder, Sacramento
