Mr. Joe Herrud, Leprino Ads - 2 - 15 March 2013
Leprino Facility, 2401 MacArther Drive, Tracy
2. Monitoring well RW-1 contained TPHd during the third quarter monitoring event. This is
the first detection in this well since March 2008. By 28 June 2013, Leprino needs to
collect a groundwater sample from this well and analyze it for TPHd and naphthalene.
3. In 2011, Leprino installed a passive soil ventilation system in monitoring well MW-4 to
mitigate TPHd and naphthalene soil vapor concentrations within the dry powder storage
warehouse. Soil vapor samples have not been collected since the installation of the
ventilation system. By 28 June 2013, Leprino needs to collect an indoor air sample from
the dry powder storage warehouse. In addition, Leprino should temporarily remove the
ventilation piping and collect a soil vapor sample from the headspace of monitoring well
MW-4. Soil vapor samples need to be analyzed for TPHd and naphthalene.
In summary, by 28 June 2013 Leprino needs to do the following:
• Remove the pump from EW-3.
• Collect groundwater samples from EW-3 and RW-1 and analyze them TPHd and
naphthalene.
• Collect indoor air sample from dry storage warehouse and analyze it for TPHd and
naphthalene.
• Remove ventilation system from MW-4 and collect soil vapor sample and analyze it for
TPHd and naphthalene.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may contact me by phone at (916) 464-4819
or by email at kshelton aawaterboards.ca.gov.
KRISTI SHELTON, P.E.
Water Resources Control Engineer
Aboveground Tanks Cleanup Unit
cc: Ms. Lori Duncan, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Reed Azevedo, Leprino Foods Company, Tracy
Mr. Brendan Shine, Tetra Tech GEO, Westminster, Colorado
