r pp QQ <br /> CLEARWATER <br /> C R 0 G r' I \ L <br /> Ent rrnluuen tr,1 5ert I�I- <br /> 3.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> All groundwater monitoring and sampling was conducted according to <br /> Clearwater Field Procedures (previously submitted) which are consistent with <br /> both local and state guidelines <br /> On March 14, 1995 Clearwater measured the depth to groundwater and depth <br /> to bottom in BMW-1 and BMW-2 Prior to sampling BMW-1 and BMW-2, <br /> each well was purged using a PVC bailer that had been thoroughly washed in <br /> an Alconox solution and double-rinsed in distilled water The bailer was <br /> decontaminated prior to purging each well <br /> At least three well casing volumes of groundwater were removed from each <br /> well while field personnel monitored temperature, conductivity, and pH <br /> After the groundwater in BMW-1 and BMW-2 had recharged to at least 80% <br /> of the pre-purge volumes, samples were collected using disposable <br /> polyethylene sampling bailers Groundwater samples were transferred to <br /> laboratory-supplied 40 milliliter volatile organic analyses (VOA) vials <br /> containing hydrochloric acid as a preservative and unpreserved 1 liter amber <br /> glass bottles Well gauging and purging information are presented in <br /> Appendix A <br /> Each sample bottle was labeled with the appropriate well designation, <br /> documented on a chain-of-custody form, and placed in a chilled cooler for <br /> shipment to the laboratory All groundwater samples were transported under <br /> chain-of-custody to American Environmental Network (AEN), a state- <br /> certified laboratory located in Pleasant Hill, California Groundwater samples <br /> were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel fuel (TPHd), methyl tert-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) The <br /> following is a summary of the analytes, analytical methods used, and <br /> corresponding laboratory reporting limits <br /> TPHg Method 5030/GC-FID, 50 parts per billion (ppb) <br /> BTE EPA Method 8020, 0.5 ppb <br /> X EPA Method 8020, 2 ppb <br /> MTBE EPA Method 8020, 5 ppb <br /> TPHd Method 3510/GC-FID, 50 ppb <br /> C-115 IQ/96 2 April 12, 1996 <br />
