Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring location,depth,time, date and sampler's initials and was stored in a chilled container under ice. ' 2.1.2. Laboratory Analysis of Confirmation Soil Samples The confirmation soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody procedures to McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI), a State of California - Department of Health Service (DHS)-certified laboratory in Pacheco, California, to be analyzed for: ' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified; and ' • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes(BTEX) and the fuel additives methyl tertiary- butyl ether(MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary- amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2- ' dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B. ' 2.1.3. Equipment Decontamination All probing rods used were cleaned prior to advancement in each probe boring location. The ' sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each sampling run to avoid cross-contamination. 2.1.4. Borehole Abandonment ' At the conclusion of soil boring activities, the borings were permanently sealed to prevent vertical migration of contaminants. Under EHD oversight, the borehole was backfilled with cement slurry ' from the total depth to surface grade. 2.2._ _ QUARTERLY WELL MONITORING PROCEDURES The fourth quarter ground water monitoring event was conducted on 11 December 2002; ground ' water monitoring was performed on monitoring wells BMW-1 through BMW-5 and MW-5 i (Figure 2).
